Workshop Safety

30 minutes. This short course provides you with an introduction to workshop safety.

About this course

This short course provides you with an introduction to workshop safety.

The course starts by explaining what is meant by the term 'workshop', then explores some of the regulations which govern workshop safety.

After that, it covers the risk assessment controls that can be put in place to safeguard people and property against the dangers posed by work in the workshop environment. Then, it looks at the basic workshop safety rules you must follow before you start working, whilst you're working, and when you've finished your task, along with ten general, yet vital, safety rules to abide by whilst you go about your daily work.

Finally, to finish, the course looks at the most common types of workshop accidents.

What you will learn

  • Understand the term 'Workshop' and be able to identify common types of hazards associated with this kind of environment
  • Recognise and explain key Health and Safety legislation governing workshop safety
  • Understand the purpose and process of risk assessments in workshops and their importance
  • List and apply basic workshop safety rules, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe working practices, and housekeeping.
  • Identify the most common types of workshop accidents and understand how to prevent them through adherence to safety rules and procedures.

Who it is for

This course is aimed at anyone who works in a Workshop environment or who is responsible for the safety of others within that same environment.

Training is not always the answer. A course covers awareness. Where the law asks for a competent person, a written risk assessment or a system you can evidence, training on its own will not close the gap. Tell us what you are trying to satisfy and we will say plainly whether this course does it.

Questions

Before you enrol

How do I book this course?

Buy it online and the learner gets their login straight away. If you are booking for more than one person, or for several different courses, send us the list and we will quote for the group rather than charging person by person.

How long do learners have to complete it?

It is self paced, so learners can stop and pick up where they left off. The time shown is video content and does not count thinking time on the questions.

Do learners get a certificate?

Yes. A certificate is issued once the learner passes, and you can download records for everyone you have enrolled.

Is the price per person?

Yes, per learner and excluding VAT. Group rates are better than the published price, so ask before booking a team.

Is eLearning enough on its own?

For awareness it often is. Where a duty needs a competent person, a risk assessment or a documented system, training alone will not close it. If you are not sure which side of that line you are on, ask us before buying.

Tell us what you are trying to cover and how many people need it. We will tell you which courses do the job, whether a bundle works out cheaper, and where a course on its own will not satisfy the duty you are actually under.
