James Roberts

Principal Consultant and Director

James founded York Green with a single goal: to make genuine health and safety expertise accessible to businesses that need it.

With over 20 years of hands-on experience across health, safety, fire, and environmental management, James has guided hundreds of businesses through complex compliance challenges,  from DSEAR hazardous area classifications in industrial facilities to fire risk assessments for multi-site property portfolios.

He holds a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Health and is a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH), a Member of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers (MIFSM), a Member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (MCIEH), and holds an Advanced registration on the National Fire Risk Assessors Register (NFRAR Advanced), qualifications that place him among the most experienced practitioners in the field. He believes that effective health and safety management isn't a box-ticking exercise — it's a foundation for better, safer, and more efficient businesses.
