Each service exists because a specific regulation puts a duty on you. If you are not sure which apply to your site, that is what the Greenlight Call is for, and several often apply at once.
Fire Safety Order 2005
Required for every non-domestic premises, and recorded in writing since October 2023 however many people you employ. Hazards, people at risk, escape routes, detection and firefighting equipment, to PAS 79 methodology by NFRAR Advanced registered assessors.

For flammable liquids, gases, vapours or combustible dusts, in any quantity. Hazardous area classification, area drawings, an ATEX equipment audit against the zone each item sits in, and a prioritised action plan.

DSEAR risk assessmentPUWER 1998
Machinery, powered tools, vehicles and access equipment assessed in normal operation. Guarding, controls, isolation, maintenance records and operator training, with a rating and an action for each item.

Water systems surveyed, temperatures profiled, dead legs and stagnation points found, and a written scheme of control where the risk needs one. Carried out by a safety consultancy with nothing to sell you afterwards.

Every substance assessed against the safety data sheet the supplier issues now, and against how the job is actually done. Exposure routes, workplace exposure limits, controls in hierarchy order, and a re-review when a sheet or a process changes.

Most consultancies make you enquire to find out whether you can afford them. The ranges above are on the site so you can budget before you pick up the phone, and so the conversation starts with what you need rather than what it costs. After the Greenlight Call you get a fixed figure in writing. No hourly billing, no open-ended day rate, no extras added afterwards. Multi-site discounts are available on every assessment service.
Where they overlap
Regulations are written separately but sites are not. Where more than one applies, the assessments are carried out in a single visit rather than billed as separate mobilisations.
Any premises holding flammable liquids, gases or combustible dusts needs both. The fire assessment covers escape and detection, DSEAR covers the substances and the zones around them.
Where machinery runs inside a classified zone, the equipment has to suit the zone as well as being guarded and controlled.
Assessments tell you what to fix. A management system is what stops the same findings reappearing at the next one.
Retained support keeps the documentation current between assessments and gives you someone to call when a client audit lands.
